No Gozilla Sightings for Me

Unfortunately I will not be traveling to Japan....for obviously reasons. I am disappointed, but I must keep things in perspective. I doesn't seem fair for me to be upset about a trip when the people of Japan are recovering from death and disaster. I am thankful I was not there when it happened.

The good news is that I will still be studying abroad! I will be spending the whole time in Taiwan now. I hope to have an updated itinerary soon.

Update on Disaster in Japan

Well it looks like I will still be going. Below is a post from my professor:

Dear all,

By now you must have heard about the big earthquake that struck Japan yesterday. Please see the report from JCMU below. I continue to monitor the situation and please be assured that everybody’s safety is the number 1 priority of our program. At this time the travel alert issued by the Department of State will expire on April 1 – which means our plan to travel to Japan at this time will not be affected (we will fly to Tokyo on 5/8). We will monitor any development closely and let you know any update as it becomes available. Thank you!

Professor Peng

Still Going?

As I'm sure all of you are aware, my travel plans for Asia are up in the air. From what I have gathered, the earthquake and tsunami had the harshest impact on the northern part of the Japanese island. Tokyo was not as severely devastated, but has been impacted. People in Taiwan have been evacuated due to the tsunami. I hope to know more soon. Stay tuned.
